My Cousin Rachel

Book menu for My Cousin Rachel
by Daphne Du Maurier

This is the second Du Maurier novel I've read. My first was Rebecca which I read a few years ago. I really enjoy her writing style and look forward to reading more of her novels and non-ficton.  Also, I now have Cornwall on my travel bucket list! My Cousin Rachel is a perfect title for mystery book groups and for any gardening and horticulture enthusiasts. What a pity the film adaptation removed the horticulture/landscape aspect from the story line. If you've already seen the film, please feel free to use the comments section and share what you thought of it (especially compared to the book).

p.231: "Why is everyone getting up?" I said.

"It's a standing ovation," said Mom, getting up.

So I got up and clapped and clapped. I clapped until my hands hurt. For a second, I imagined how cool it would be to be Via and Justin right then, having all these people standing up and cheering for them. I think there should be a rule that everyone in the world should get a standing ovation at least once in their lives.
